Arval Belgium is known as a car leasing company, with no fewer than 110,000 leased cars on the road in Belgium. But did you know that leasing is not the only service we offer? More than ever, Arval Belgium also offers alternative solutions to meet demand in a constantly changing world of mobility.
Digitalisation, flexible working, increasingly sprawling cities and long traffic jams are all factors that are prompting us to reconsider our mobility needs. Professionals, SMEs, large multinationals and public institutions can consult Arval for expert advice, quality services and tailor-made solutions to optimise their employees' mobility and outsource their fleet management risks.
Christophe Janssen, Senior Mobility Leader at Arval Belgium, explains how Arval can help companies introduce alternative and sustainable mobility solutions.
The mobility market is evolving at a rapid pace
"The mobility market is evolving so fast. We are seeing a shift in the transportation choices people are making. Examples include carpooling, electric scooters in cities or electric mopeds that don't need much parking space. People are also working from home much more, making it part of the mobility story as well.
It is important for companies and public institutions to keep up with these trends. At Arval, they can always turn to us for advice and support with optimising their mobility management, and we help them choose the right alternative solutions for sustainable mobility – tailored to their specific context."
Tax-efficient federal mobility budget
"We advise companies to take advantage of the federal mobility budget in their mobility strategy. This mobility budget was created a few years ago by the federal government to provide green alternatives for employees who are entitled to a company car. In other words, the federal mobility budget is a new type of cafeteria plan that offers organisations a wide range of alternative, future-oriented and tax-friendly solutions.
Through their mobility budget, employees can exchange their company car budget for an annual amount they can spend on more environmentally friendly and tax-friendly mobility options. Employees are free to pick and choose this budget and spend it according to three pillars:
- An electric car or a car that meets certain standards
- All sustainable means of transport, such as an electric bike, moped, shared car or public transport
- The rent or interest and capital repayments of a mortgage loan if the employee lives within a 10-kilometre radius of their workplace
If an employee hasn't spent the entire budget on these three pillars, they can opt to have the remaining balance paid out in cash. Thanks to this budget, a lot of transport costs can be spent for private purposes, such as going to the seaside with the kids or taking a trip to the Ardennes."
The range of solutions offered by Arval
"At Arval, we already have the right tools to help organisations implement this mobility budget for their employees, taking into account existing regulations and their specific organisational context:
Arval Bike Lease
More and more employers are making it a lot easier for employees to travel to and from work by bike. Arval Bike Lease is the perfect complement for this trend, as more and more people choose to lease their bikes. It gives them an all-inclusive, tax-efficient package at a low price. "Opting for Arval Bike Lease gives you peace of mind. The package is a three-year leasing contract that includes maintenance, insurance and breakdown assistance. After three years, you can buy the bicycle at an attractive price if you wish.
Arval Car Sharing
By sharing cars, companies can use their fleet more flexibly. A shared fleet makes employees more mobile, more productive and more motivated at a minimum price. This solution is ideal for employees who don't have a company car but who need to travel for their job.
Arval Car Sharing has attracted a great deal of interest from our customers. Car Sharing ensures efficient use of the fleet, as it reduces unnecessary downtime for company cars and other vehicles. Employees who come to work by bicycle or bus can use these company cars to drive to a customer, another site or another building on the site. They can book the car online and have it ready in no time. A smartphone or badge replaces the ignition key, which is no longer necessary. In other words, they can easily control everything via an app on their smartphone.
Arval Connect
Arval Connect provides an up-to-date view of your fleet through vehicle data monitoring. Christophe Janssen: "When does the car need to go to the garage for maintenance? Where are the cars at the moment? How can we optimise our routes? An electronic box with the requisite sensors and a GPS module register data on driving style, fuel consumption and number of kilometres travelled – and in real time if requested by the customer. Arval Connect offers numerous options for optimal and efficient fleet management, up to and including a possible reduction in the insurance premium.
