1989
Arval founded in France
Arval Service Lease is launched in Paris. This new subsidiary of BNP Paribas has six staff members, with a Citroën BX as its very first leased vehicle.
1991
The first branch outside France
Just two years later, it's time for the first step towards international expansion. Two guesses where the first office outside France opens? That's right: in Belgium.
2000
The first acquisition
The next major step in our international expansion trajectory is the acquisition of the leasing company Europe PHH. As a result, Arval temporarily becomes Arval PHH and is joined by an international network of partners through the Element-Arval Global Alliance.
2004
Acquisition of Arma
Arval acquires the Dutch leasing company Arma, a very strong player in Belgium and the Netherlands. The acquisition further strengthens Arval's position in the Benelux.
2009
BNP Paribas buys 75% of Fortis Bank
This is a turning point in the history of Arval Belgium, as it creates a significantly reinforced financial base and an iron-strong confidence to achieve future objectives.
2011
25,000th vehicle
Twenty years after its first business activity, Arval Belgium reaches a true milestone: the 25,000th Arval vehicle is registered, a clear statement of its ambition to grow in the dynamic leasing market.
2015
A busy year...
With the acquisition of the European branch of GE Capital Fleet Service, Arval further strengthens its position in the business market. In addition, Arval launches Private Leasing and White Label solutions.
2016
A new milestone
A new and varied range for business customers, private customers and vehicle manufacturers pays off immediately: the 50,000th vehicle is registered, which is yet another milestone.
2020
Sustained growth, including in the future
Arval's fleet now comprises 80,000 vehicles. In order to continue to grow, Arval Beyond is launched: a visionary strategy through which Arval believes it can help shape the future of mobility.
2022
Acquisition of Terberg Business Lease Group
The Dutch branch of Arval takes over the Terberg Business Lease Group, which is active in Belgium and includes the high-performance e-commerce platform JustLease.be. This is a significant boost for Arval Belgium's private leasing services...
2023
100.000!
The milestone of all milestones: Arval Belgium registers its 100,000th vehicle. Even though Arval is now playing a pioneering role for alternative mobility, the 100,000 mark is an achievement that Arval Belgium can be especially proud of!
